The 'Report from the Road' says this about Arlington and Arturo; "ARLINGTON (Idocus x Nirvana, ster by Fleming x Calypso) bred/owned by Larry and Kathy Childs, wowed the jury as well as the spectators with a very good use of forehand - neck, shoulder and foreleg. He is a long-lined, very modern dressage type, although a minor wish would be a little more length in his foreleg. With his 7.5 for conformation and an 8.4 for movement ARLINGTON will end in the top ten,…but he too was not at the top of the line.
ARTURO (Rousseau x Ojazzie MW, ster by Silvio II - Ahorn) had his owner/breeder the Child’s (and the jury!) truly on cloud nine. This breathtaking colt was the winner of this Texas Foal Class and Best Young Horse for this location AND takes the spotlight and the first place in the Top Ten from Andorra ISF. The black son of Rousseau and the mare OJazzie is a super type with a beautiful shoulder, supple in combination with a powerful use of hindquarters - sitting and projecting himself upward and forward as does an airplane. ARTURO was given an 8.5 on both his conformation and his movement."
We would also like to say a great big THANK YOU to our good friends and hard workers Debbie Davenport and Nancy Smith. They went above and beyond to help us out at this year's Keuring! Thank You . . Thank You . . Thank You!!!

A big thank you goes to John and Nina Fricke for letting use their facility, High Point Farm in Paola! Your place is beautiful and was very well received. Click here to see some photos of the Keuring.
We were very pleased that Belize was awarded a First Premium!

The article talks about Arturo and Arlington and says, "Arturo, Bred and owned by Larry and Kathy Childs, has the type and trot horse people dream of. Smooth, long-lined, expressive, correct in body with a take-off like a jet and such an athletic ability that this young black colt refuses to leave your mind. Arturo's stable mate Arlington (idocus x Nirvana ster by Flemmingh) is the number three in the top ten and again a very well trotting offspring of Nirvanna."

We traveled to Austin, Texas to the KWPN annual meeting. It was our second meeting and it was great to see everyone that we met in Lexington two years ago! We enjoy seeing everyone and to learn how we can continue to be better bredders of Dutch horses. Thanks to KWPN for a well run and enjoyable meeting!

This month we traveled to Oklahoma to the KWPN-NA Keuring and the Mid-States Finals. The jury was very complimentary of Caravaggio (Rousseau x Nirvana) and he received a First Premium rating and was named the Best Young Horse of the site! A bit tuckered, he managed to compete that afternoon in the Silver Creek Breed Show receiving a 74.6%. On the second day, Caravaggio was a good sport - even though it was tough for him to trot in hand - he earned a 77.8%. In the afternoon, he capped off the busy weekend with a very respectable 76.2% and 5th place in the Mid-States Finals amid a group of competitive older horses.
Congratulations to Silver Creek Farm for a fun and well run Keuring and Breed Show/Finals! We throughly enjoyed ourselves (in spite of the rain!). Your place is beautiful!

Caravaggio (Gio) participated in a young horse handling clinic with Micheal Bragdell from Hilltop Farms. Gio was an absolute gentleman and received many compliments from Micheal and the spectators for his cooperative spirit and steady work ethic.

Our breed show season got under way this month. We traveled to Nebraska for the Cornhusker Classic Dressage Show. We have shows on the calendar for August and September.

Mother's Day came a day early for us this year! Nirvana presented us with a black bay Broere Jazz colt on Saturday May 10th! " Django" (the 'D' is silent) is named after the European Jazz musican, Django Rheinhardt. Django has all of the athletic qualities and classic beauty to be a star! It is a real treat to look out in the pasture and see the pair grazing.
Django will be for sale after the September keuring.
Our plans are to breed Nirvana to Westpoint, a Jazz son for 2009.
